Marking the 67th anniversary of the Deir Yassin massacre, the Arab League called for an international intervention to stop Israeli crimes against Palestinians, a statement by the group said yesterday.
The Arab League said that it would never accept “the racist policies and the terrorist means” of the Israeli occupation and called for the occupation to commit to international legitimacy and the two-state solution regarding dealing with the Palestinians.
Israeli gangs committed the massacre on April 9, 1948. The gang attacked the village of Deir Yassin, near Jerusalem, and killed more than 110 unarmed Palestinian residents.
The Arab League reiterated its opposition to the Israeli “terrorist policy”.
In light of the international silence towards Israeli crimes, the Arab League called for a clear international intervention to implement the decisions regarding the two-state solution, protecting the Palestinian people and all their property.
It also stressed the importance of activating the Arab Peace Initiative that was adopted by the Beirut Arab Summit in 2002, which proposed a comprehensive solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict based on justice and equality, as well as acknowledged the rights of the Palestinian people.
The initiative also called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“Six decades passed since the Deir Yassin Massacre,” the statement said. “The Israeli gangs stormed the village from all its entrances…killed people and destroyed their property… prevented international organisations from entering the village.”
The statement said that this is the policy which dominates Israeli actions against the Palestinians these days. “This is what happened in Jenin and the three Israeli wars on Gaza,” the statement said.
Concluding the statement, the Arab League hailed the Palestinians and their persistence as well as called for Israel to refrain from its aggressive policies which undermine all efforts or a peaceful solution to the conflict.
