Meshaal: Resistance is the only way to liberate Palestinian prisoners

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Khaled Meshaal said his movement believes that resistance is the only way to liberate Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.

In a recorded speech broadcasted yesterday in Khan Yunis during a ceremony to commemorate the eleventh anniversary of former Hamas leader Dr Abdel Aziz Rantisi’s assassination, Meshaal said: “The blood of our martyrs reminds us always of the path of resistance and to stand strong.”

“The Gaza Strip represents a model for resistance. The Strip suffers after the recent Israeli war and is being punished instead of being rewarded. The siege persists while reconstruction is being delayed as the enclave is burdened with more problems like the public employees problem,” Meshaal said.

The senior official said his movement is committed to the national spirit of unity despite all the challenges, betrayals and negligence.

“The stalled reconciliation will not affect Hamas’s commitment to the Palestinian unity or the public interest,” he said, stressing that the movement uses all means possible to solve the challenges facing the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian cause.

“Hamas seizes all opportunities to expand its ties and gain more friends to serve the national cause,” he said.

Some 6,000 Palestinians are being held in Israeli jail, including 1,500 who are in urgent need of medical attention and surgery, as well as hundreds of women and children.
