Fatah yesterday demanded Hamas pay $251 million for ruling the Gaza Strip if it wants the current Gaza employees to be paid by the Palestinian Authority (PA), Quds Press reported.
In an article published on Fatah’s official website, the group accused Hamas of failing to support the mission of the unity government delegation which went to Gaza and left within 24 hours.
“This way, Hamas undermined the Swiss proposal accepted by PA President Mahmoud Abbas to sort out the problem of Gaza employees,” Fatah said.
It added: “Hamas had already decided, before the arrival of the government delegation to Gaza, to only leave room for solving the financial problems of its employees who were recruited after the ‘coup’ in Gaza. Then, it will rescind its obligations towards the unity government.”
Fatah also accused Hamas of hiding $251 million, which were cut from the salaries of its employees for the Healthcare and Insurance Fund. “So, if the unit government paid the salaries, would Hamas repay the $251 million?” the writer asked.
