Moroccan PM: We overcame obstacles by adopting reform and dialogue

Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane said his coalition government was able to resolve several problems by adopting reform and political dialogue.

During the ninth Al-Jazeera Forum, Benkirane said: “We have historical awareness that demanding reform cannot be achieved away from the monarchy which has ruled Morocco for more than 12 centuries. This family in particular has governed us for four centuries and has been a key element to our unity and stability.”

Benkirane praised Morocco’s King Mohammed VI’s quick response to the demands for reform in 2011.

He said that his government, which includes Islamist, liberal and communist parties, has faced enormous challenges but could overcome them through dialogue and economic reforms that encouraged foreign companies to return and invest in Morocco.
