A political turning point is imminent in Egypt if Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi’s government continues to silence the opposition; Canada’s Vice News reported political science Professor Emad Shahin as saying.

Shahin, who has been sentenced to death by an Egyptian court, said: “They are acting crazy; therefore they must be stopped. This is what I am trying to do.”

Commenting on the mass death sentences recently issued by the Egyptian judiciary, Shahin told the Canadian magazine: “The issuance of this many death sentences is unprecedented in Egypt’s modern history.”

“If Emad Shahin were in Egypt at the moment, he would’ve been a dead man. Fortunately for him, he is in Washington now,” Vice News said.
