The Islamic State (ISIS) has retaken control of Al-Jubba area, 90 kilometres west of Ramadi, after Iraqi troops withdrew from the region, a local official said.

District Manager of the nearby city of Khan Al-Baghdadi, Naji Arak, told the Anadolu Agency: “ISIS regained control over Al-Jubba after the Iraqi troops implemented a tactical withdrawal from the region with their weapons and machinery to Al-Baghdadi city, and the Ayn Al-Asad airbase.”

ISIS continues to control a majority of cities and regions in Anbar despite losing areas in the provinces of Diyala, Nineveh and Salahuddin.
