Egyptian police break into Yaqin news network's office

Egyptian security forces broke into the head office of Yaqin news network in central Cairo, arresting journalists and confiscating equipment, the Anadolu Agency reported on yesterday.

This is the second time that the Egyptian security forces have broken into the news organisation’s offices.

On February last year, the police broke into the office and arrested all the journalists present. They were later released on bail ranging from between 5,000-10,000 Egyptian pounds ($638-$1276).

The network posted on Facebook that the security services broke into its office and arrested its Editor-in-Chief Yahya Khalaf. They also arrested Ibrahim Abu-Baker, a member of staff, he was later released.

Security source denied the break in had occurred.
