Yesterday, Egyptians began casting their votes in the last and final stage of the country’s parliamentary elections, but turnout rate is clearly weak, AlKhaleejonline.com has reported.
Elections in this stage take place in 13 governorates, including Cairo and north and south Sinai, which has been suffering a volatile security situation for several months.
In the first stage of the elections the turnout rate peaked at only 27 per cent of the population, despite a heavy media campaign in support for the elections.
Egyptian authorities have assigned more than 160,000 policemen to secure this stage of the elections, which end today.
