Head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Sheikh Raed Salah yesterday warned of a series of raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque between Sunday and Thursday as part of the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah, Felesteen newspaper reported.
While delivering the Friday ceremon at a mosque in Nazareth, Salah said: “They [Israelis] are calling for a series of raids starting on Sunday… as well as calling for a rally on Thursday urging the acceleration of building the so-called ‘Temple’ in place of Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
He warned that settlers are also called for candles to be lit in front of the Al-Mughrabi Gate.
Israel has declared the Islamic Movement as illegal with the Minister of Defence Moshe Ya’alon threatening anyone who is affiliated with the group with criminal charges and jail terms in addition to the confiscation of their property.
According to Salah, authorities closed 17 charities affiliated to the movement, which sponsors 23,000 orphans. “Where will these orphans go, Netanyahu?” Salah asked, insisting that the ban is a new start for his movement.
