GCC rejects Israeli measures in Jerusalem

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to have an independent state.

In a statement issued at the conclusion of their 36th annual summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh yesterday, the leaders expressed their support for Palestinians suffering under the Israeli occupation.

Remarking on the situation in Yemen, GCC leaders expressed their keenness in achieving security and stability in Yemen under the leadership of its legitimate government. They reaffirmed their support for a political solution as per the GCC initiative, the outcome of the National Dialogue and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

The bloc also affirmed its support for a political solution in Syria and the outcome of the opposition meeting held in Riyadh. They backed the meeting’s results which ensures the unity and independence of Syrian land as per the principles of Geneva 1. It also welcomed the outcome of the Vienna talks on Syria.

The leaders have also stressed that terrorism is a global problem and stressed that the world must share in its responsibility to combat terrorism and eradicate sources of extremism. They pledge to continue to combat terrorism with the coordination and cooperation of friendly nations.
