NATO deploys warships in the Mediterranean

NATO member states have sent dozens of warships to the eastern Mediterranean after Russia’s military activity in the area and its intervention in the Syrian crisis.


Military sources report that Turkey has 34 warships in the eastern Mediterranean, in addition to more than 60 warships from 13 countries. In addition to Russia’s nine ships, the US has eight ships, while Germany, Belgium, Spain, Canada, Portugal, Greece and the Netherlands have ships deployed in the eastern Mediterranean, according to Anadolu Agency.

Each of NATO’s member states: Belgium, Spain, Canada, Portugal, Greece and the Netherlands, has one warship in the Mediterranean.
