Russian airstrikes kill 50 in Damascus

As many as 50 civilians were killed in airstrikes carried by Russian warplanes on the city Duma, Damascus, yesterday.

Civil defence officials in the opposition-held region said Russian aircrafts launched 25 raids on residential neighbourhoods in Duma killing 50 civilians and wounding 200 others.

According to the officials, the Russian airstrikes also targeted populated neighbourhoods in the nearby towns of Zamalka, Arbin, Hamorya and Jobar in Damascus.

The sources also said Russian and Syrian airstrikes have led to the significant destruction of property and residential buildings, adding that rescue crews were working tirelessly to pull survivors from the rubble.
