Israel facing pressure to allow settlers to seize Palestinian homes in Hebron

Israeli media has reported that Israel is facing increasing pressure to adopt a resolution allowing Israeli settlers to take over Palestinian homes in Hebron, southern West Bank.

The Israeli newspaper Maariv said on Wednesday that 31 Jewish mayors and local authority heads in Israel, along with a number of members of the ruling Likud party, sent a letter to Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon asking him to allow settlers to seize Palestinian homes in Hebron.

Netanyahu: ‘We support settlements all the time’

Israeli settlers recently seized a number of Palestinian homes in Hebron, but the Israeli army removed them last week, the newspaper explained. The settlers allege that they purchased the properties.

The Palestinian owners denied selling their properties to the settlers, asserting that the purchase papers the settlers possess are forged.
