Israeli minister calls for disengagement from Gaza and building of seaport

Israeli Minister of Transport and Intelligence Yisrael Katz has called for Israel’s disengagement from the Gaza Strip, alongside calling for a seaport to be built in Gaza under Israeli supervision, Israeli general radio reported.

According to Quds Press, Katz said: “Full disengagement with Gaza leads to solving a large part of the conflict with the Palestinians.”

He also said that this would stop giving the world the pretext to blame Israel for everything going on in Gaza.

The minister said that building a seaport in Gaza would lessen the “tension”, noting that there are “diplomatic” efforts underway to do so but did not provide additional details.
