Head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards slams nuclear deal

The Head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Mohammad Ali Jafari has said his country’s agreement with the West over Tehran’s nuclear program was “not a cause for pride”.

“The agreement concluded between Iran with the West in July last year does not benefit the country,” Iran’s Tasnim news agency quoted Jafari as saying during a meeting of senior commanders.

“The Iranian people accepted the agreement against their will,” Jafari said.

Turning to the tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Jafari said: “The Revolutionary Guard Corps has prepared itself and waits for commands to respond appropriately to regimes like Saudi Arabia and Bahrain for their brazen actions toward Iran.”

In mid-July last year, Iran and six world powers reached a deal on limiting Iranian nuclear activity in return for the lifting of international economic sanctions.
