PA: Israel’s demolition policy targets Palestinian existence

The escalation in Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes is targeting the existence of the Palestinian people in their land, the Palestinian Authority foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

The ministry said in a statement that the Israeli authorities have exploited the international indifference to the Palestinian issue and escalated its policy of destroying Palestinian homes and facilities.

The ministry described these activities as “extrajudicial”.

According to the statement, since the beginning of this year, the Israeli authorities have destroyed tens of homes and displaced hundreds of Palestinian citizens, including 65 minors.

It also said that Israel destroyed eight homes in the last two days and handed over 12 demolition orders. The statement added that the Israeli authorities continue not to issue building permits to Palestinians.

The ministry said that all these activities aim to tighten the restrictions on the lives of Palestinians, pushing them to migrate from their homeland.

The ministry called on the international community to pay more attention to Israeli violations against Palestinians and to move their response from condemnation to legal measures.
