Jubeir: Saudi to abide by Egypt, Israel treaty over Red Sea islands

Saudi Arabia will not negotiate with Israel on the Red Sea islands of Tiran and Sanafir because they were included in the Camp David peace agreement signed between Egypt and Israel after 1967, the country’s foreign minister said.

“Saudi Arabia has already demarcated its border with Iraq, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen,” Adel Al-Jubeir said during a meeting with the Saudi Ambassador to Egypt, Ahmed Kattan and Egyptian editors-in-chief yesterday.

“The kingdom’s commitment includes accepting the presence of international forces on the islands, per the peace treaty of Egypt and Israel,” Al-Jubeir said.
