Assad: We won’t accept anything but ultimate victory in Aleppo

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad said that he will not accept anything but an “ultimate victory” over opposition fighters in the northern city of Aleppo, Syrian news outlets reported.

In a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Al-Assad said that his army will continue to fight until “this aggression is defeated” in its battle in Aleppo and other Syrian cities.

The Syrian army had said that it will abide by a truce in Aleppo following a Russian-US agreement to extend a Syria ceasefire. The ceasefire agreement collapsed as violence persisted for two weeks between opposition fighters and the regime’s army, resulting in the death of scores of civilians.
