First sports team for women with disabilities launched in Gaza

A group of women with disabilities in the Gazan city of Rafah have launched a sports team, the first of its kind in Gaza, Safa news agency reported on Tuesday.

Irada, a group of women from the Handicapped Society in Rafah, met with Sobhi Ridwan, head of the municipality of Rafah, and other municipality officials to discuss the initiative.

Ridwan offered his help to the team, noting the good work of the society in helping those with disabilities in Rafah.

A spokesperson of the team called for setting up a sports hall with the needed facilities for the athletes.

He said that the municipality of Rafah has pledged to contact all of the sports clubs in Gaza to help facilitate the training of the team.
