Palestinian factions welcome Egyptian call to host Palestinian reconciliation talks

Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip yesterday welcomed a call by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to resume Egypt’s efforts to achieve internal Palestinian reconciliation, Quds Press reported.

Islamic Jihad invited the other Palestinian factions to meet in its headquarters in Gaza to discuss several issues including the Egyptian call, rebuilding the Strip and the commemoration of 49th anniversary of 1967 occupation, the reporter said.

In the wake of the meeting, Fatah spokesman in Gaza Fayez Abu Aita said that the factions expressed their hope that the Egyptian efforts to achieve internal Palestinian reconciliation would “end in success”.

Last week, Al-Sisi called on Palestinian factions to meet to achieve internal reconciliation, reiterating Cairo’s readiness to host the talks.
