A security source in the Egyptian interior ministry on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of any terrorist attack against Egypt’s landmarks, including the Pyramids of Giza.

Egypt’s tourist landmarks are completely secure and under security surveillance 24 hours a day, the source said.

The remarks follow a video released by Daesh threatening to destroy the Pyramids of Giza.

Egypt’s Youm7 newspaper reported the source as saying that security personnel vigilance has stood against many acts of sabotage, including one that targeted the Temple of Karnak in Luxor several months ago.

The source said the archaeological area around the pyramids is secured with 197 surveillance cameras.
