Russia is proud of the level of its relations with Egypt, in particular the personal relationship between President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Russian ambassador said on Sunday.

In an exclusive statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), on the sidelines of the celebration of Russia’s National Day, Russian Ambassador to Cairo, Sergei Kirpichenko said he is looking forward to a bright future between the two countries.

He said flights between the two countries would resume shortly and Russian tourists would return to Egypt.

Moscow gives great importance to the establishment of the Russian Industrial Region, he explained, which is considered one of the most important projects after the Al-Dabaa nuclear power plant. He noted that the location of the new industrial region is currently being chosen in cooperation with the Egyptian side, pointing out that Russia is always ready to enhance and support the Egyptian defence capability.
