Vice-President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Muwaffaq Nyrabiya said that the regime’s targeting of civilians in several Syrian cities during the Eid holiday has undermined all chances of launching a new round of negotiations in Geneva.

“The Assad regime is still not serious about the political process; it believes only in violence, bloodshed and destruction,” Nyrabiya said.

He called on the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) to take urgent and concrete action in order to create the appropriate conditions for the resumption of a political process that will lead to genuine political transition in Syria.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs expressed grave concerns regarding the situation in Aleppo, where some 300,000 people are trapped in the eastern part of the city due to violent clashes along the Castillo road.
