Assad pardons militants who lay down arms

Syrian regime President Bashar Al-Assad yesterday issued a decree to grant an amnesty “for militants who took up arms if they turn themselves in to the Syrian forces”, the Syrian news agency SANA reported.

The agency said the decree stipulates that militants who took up arms or acquired them for any reason will be exempt from full punishment if they surrender and handover their weapons to the competent judicial authorities within a period of three months.
