Lebanese army files complaint to UNIFIL over Israel’s construction of road in disputed territory

The Lebanese army filed a complaint on Monday with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) over the beginning of the construction of a military road by Israeli forces in occupied Shebaa Farms on Lebanon’s south-eastern border.

According to the official Lebanese news agency, the Lebanese army declared a state of alert on the southern borders as the Israeli army continued its construction work at the north end of the Shebaa Farms, deploying armed vehicles.

The Lebanese army demanded an immediate halt to Israeli violations in the disputed area.

The Shebaa Farms area is located between Lebanon and the Golan Heights. It has been occupied by the Israeli army since 1967.
