Turkish Prime Minister hails Bahraini monarch for coup solidarity

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has thanked Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa for the Gulf state’s solidarity shown during Turkey’s defeated July 15 coup plot.

The Turkish premier met the Bahraini monarch on Sunday in Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. The meeting was closed to reporters.

According to Turkish Prime Ministry sources, Yildirim said the visit showed Bahrain’s support for Turkey’s democratic institutions. Yildirim said Ankara’s support for Bahrain’s security would last forever.

The Bahraini king stressed the importance his state gave to relations with Turkey and said Bahrain aims to further develop existing ties with Ankara.
