Bahrain charges rights activist after New York Times article

Bahrain has placed charges on leading human right’s activist Nabeel Rajab after New York Times published an op-ed which he wrote in prison.

Letter from a Bahraini jail” was published on Sunday, in it he described his experience in detention. He explained that he’s been in and out of the prison system for his activism since 2012 and gave an insight into his ordeal.

Rajab was charged for producing “false news and statements and malicious rumours that undermine the prestige of the kingdom.”
