The GCC Ministerial Council voiced “great concern” over the kidnapping of a group of Qatari citizens who went hunting in Iraq last year.
In a statement issued from New York this week, the GCC reiterated its condemnation of the move as a “terrorist act” and urged for them to be released, according to the Qatar News Agency.
About 100 unidentified armed men seized the group of Qatari hunters from a desert camp in southern Iraq near the Saudi border in December. At least nine members of the group managed to escape and crossed into Kuwait.
The group included a member of Qatar’s ruling family who was later freed along with a Pakistani man who was traveling with them, Qatar’s foreign ministry said in April.
