Thirty parties are taking part in Morocco’s parliamentary elections, QudsPress reported yesterday.
The Moroccan elections are due to take place on 7 October. Some 15,702,592 people are eligible to vote.
The elections will select lawmakers for the country’s 395-seat House of Representatives. The prime minister will be selected by the king from the party that wins most seats, with PJD favourite to remain the dominant party.
Abdelilah Benkirane of the Islamist Justice and Development party (PJD) has been head of the government of Morocco since 2011. He is the leader of the Justice and Development Party.
Some 92 foreign observers have been granted permission to monitor the legislative elections.
It’s only the second time Moroccans are voting for parliament since thousands took to the streets in 2011 demanding reform through the February 20th Movement.
