Nidaa Tounes discusses political divisions

Members of Nidaa Tounes have met to discuss internal divisions and the means to sort them, Quds Press reported yesterday.

Ridha Belhaj, one of the party’s leaders, said 14 members attended the meeting which looked for “new horizons” for Nidaa Tounes to restore connections among all the party’s frames in the different governorates.

In addition, he said that there are other meetings soon, noting that the first meeting was held two weeks ago in Tunis.

Belhaj said that the leaders who attended the meeting agreed on a roadmap aiming to create a caretaker commission whose purpose is to prepare for an electoral conference as soon as possible.

The roadmap will be proposed and discussed by the political commission of the party in the coming meetings and activities, stressing that it is part of a reformation plan and “it does not target any character”.

Nidaa Tounes was established by current President Beji Caid Essebsi. It attained 40 per cent of seats in parliament but 25 of its members of parliament later withdrew.
