Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir wrapped up a two-day visit to Cairo yesterday evening during which he met his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
During the visit, the two heads of state signed a “comprehensive strategic partnership agreement”, while officials from both countries signed a host of cooperation agreements in the fields of industry, agriculture, higher education and public health.
While in Egypt, Al-Bashir attended a ceremony marking the 43rd anniversary of Egypt’s 1973 military victory over Israel in the Sinai Peninsula.
At the ceremony, Al-Sisi awarded Al-Bashir with Egypt’s “Star of Sinai” medal “in recognition of his participation in the 1973 Arab-Israeli war”, during which he served in a Sudanese army brigade.
