Doctors suspend work in occupied West Bank hospitals

The Council of the Doctors’ Syndicate in Ramallah has announced the full suspension of work in all hospitals across the occupied West Bank until further notice, Quds Net reported on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Council said that the suspension was due to the “repeated attacks” on medical staff. The move also covers all primary healthcare centres and clinics.

The Council noted that there would be protests in front of all the healthcare centres before doctors are to leave their workplaces. They will also suspend scheduled operations.

Only emergency cases, childbirth, kidney dialysis, cancer patients and psychiatrists are excluded from the action. Earlier this week, a doctor was arrested after one of his patients died following a medical examination.
