Iranian foreign minister to visit Beirut to congratulate Aoun

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif will arrive in Beirut in the next few hours to convey a message of congratulations and support from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the Lebanese newly elected President, General Michel Aoun, Anadolu agency reported.

The agency quoted an unnamed source as saying that the Iranian minister visit also aims to find out the circumstances that led to the political settlement which led to electing Aoun as president after more than two and a half years of presidential vacuum.

The source revealed that Zarif’s visit will last for two days, during which he will meet a number of Lebanese officials.

According to the source, Zarif is also likely to meet the Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah.

The Iranian minister visit comes just hours after the Syrian regime’s Minister for Presidential Affairs, Mansour Azzam visit to Beirut on Monday.
