Saudi accuses Iran of committing violations against minorities

The Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Al-Muallimi criticised Iran and accused it of committing violations against ethnic groups and minorities in the country.

Speaking on Tuesday during a meeting held to discuss a draft resolution on human rights situation in Syria, the ambassador said Sunni Muslims and the Arabs of Ahwaz in Iran suffer “persecution” stressing that Iran “covers up crimes and violations committed on sectarian grounds” in its territory.

“The persecution faced by the Ahwaz Arabs is a hidden crime undeclared by Iran,” he said.

Al-Mualimi added: “Before the Iranian delegate offers advice to anyone, he should return to his history.”
