Authorities in Egypt have closed five ports to close due to the bad weather conditions being experienced in the country.
Spokesperson for Red Sea Ports Authority, Malak Youssef, said: “The ports of Suez and Zeiteyat were closed this afternoon because of the adverse weather conditions and strong winds which ranged from 30-40 knots, and caused waves of between two and four metres high.”
The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone also announced the “closure of the ports of Sokhna and Adabiya this afternoon because of the adverse weather conditions.”
Port authorities were instructed to “take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of navigation marks, entrances and exits of ports and follow-up with the General Authority for Meteorology’s climate map for Maritime Safety to preserve the safety of life and property, both public and private.”
