Comprehensive military and civil drills were carried out across the Gaza Strip yesterday, a statement by the Palestinian Interior Ministry said.

All security services staff, offices and the civil defence facilities were involved in the drills which started at 10am and lasted until 2pm.

The drills included military and security deployment across the different cities of the coastal enclave.

Meanwhile, the civil defence and its firefighters carried tested their response time to emergency calls and carrying out emergency missions amidst mock complicated security situations, including evacuating casualties from targeted buildings and areas.

Spokesman of the Interior Ministry in Gaza, Eyad Al-Bozom, said the exercises came after a series of separate drills were carried out in the different governorates of Gaza.

“The aim of the drills is to improve the performance of the security and police services as well as the civil defence firefighters in order to be ready for any unexpected threats to the Gaza Strip,” Al-Bozom said.

Gaza was exposed to three massive Israeli offensives which claimed the lives of thousands and wounded tens of thousands, in addition to the devastation of tens of thousands of homes and security and civil government buildings.
