Foreign forces leaving Aleppo with ‘terrorists’, claims Syrian ambassador

Military officers and counterterrorism forces from Saudi Arabia, Israel, Qatar and Jordan are in east Aleppo and are preparing to leave with the gunmen, Syria’s permanent Representative to the United Nations, Bashar Jaafari, alleged today.

The Syrian news agency SANA said Jaafari made the claims in a press statement after the UN Security Council meeting convened to discuss a draft resolution on Aleppo yesterday.

Jaafari alleged that “multiple intelligence and military officers who are currently in east Aleppo are leaving with terrorist elements that are fleeing from their stronghold in Eastern Aleppo.”

“These people are affiliated with moderate elements within the Syrian opposition forces and are seeking to withdraw from east Aleppo with terrorists,” he added.
