Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz met with Mahmoud Abbas in Riyadh on Wednesday, AlKhaleejonline.com has reported. The Palestinian president’s official visit to the kingdom was in keeping with the ongoing Saudi-Palestine relationship.

According to the official Palestinian Authority news agency Wafa, Abbas met several senior Saudi officials in addition to the king. The PA leader briefed them about the Seventh Congress held recently by Fatah. In addition to a discussion about mutual relations, Abbas also spoke about the Israeli threat to Jerusalem.

“All of us are acquainted with the Saudi position towards the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem,” said the PA’s Ambassador in Riyadh, Bassam Al-Agha. He pointed out that Abbas also reiterated that the PA stands side by side with Saudi Arabia in its war against terrorism.

The government of Saudi Arabia has just paid $60 million to support the PA after a two month hiatus in such payments which caused some concerns about relations between Riyadh and Ramallah.
