Saudi police arrest 3 people over kidnapping of Shia judge

Police in Saudi Arabia have arrested three people in connection with the kidnapping of a Shia judge, the security spokesperson of the Saudi interior ministry announced on Sunday. Mohamed Abdullah Al-Jirani was snatched near his house in the Governorate of Al-Qatif.

According to Arabi21.com, Abdullah Ali Al-Darweesh, Mazen Al-Qubaa and Mostafa Ahmed Al-Sahwan are alleged to have been hired by the kidnappers to observe and monitor the victim’s movements. Three others directly involved in the crime and still on the loose were named as Mohamed Hussein Al-Ammar, Maytham Ali Al-Qudeehi and Ali Bilal Al-Hamad. Others believed to have been involved have not been named at this stage of the investigation, reported the official Saudi news agency.

The ministry has warned the kidnappers not to harm the judge, and called for his “immediate release.” A 1 million Saudi Riyals reward has been announced for anyone who provides details about any of the suspects. Five million riyals will be paid to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest of any of those still at liberty.
