Saudi halts oil shipment to Egypt for fifth consecutive month

Saudi Arabia’s state oil firm Aramco has not supplied Egypt with oil and petroleum products for the fifth consecutive month, indicating a continuing rift between the two countries, an Egyptian source said.

The unnamed official at the General Petroleum Corporation, who spoke to QudsPress on condition of anonymity, said: “The Saudi company did not respond to any of the verbal or official inquiries sent by Egypt regarding the resumption of supplying Egypt with petroleum derivatives during the month of February.”

Saudi Arabia had informed Egypt verbally that shipments of oil products expected under a $23 billion aid deal will be halted indefinitely in October, last year.
