Israel jails Palestinian boy

The Israeli Central Court in Jerusalem sentenced a Palestinian boy from Shuafat refugee camp yesterday to a year in prison, Safa news agency has reported.

The Committee of Jerusalem Prisoners named the boy as Ahmed Ibrahim Mohamed Abu-Khalifa; he is just 15 years old and was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces on 22 October 2015. He has already spent four months in prison and 11 months in another closed institution.

The committee said that the court did not deduct the time already spent in prison and the institution from the 12-month sentence.

Abu-Khalifa’s brother Sobhi was arrested by the Israeli occupation authorities 18 months ago after allegations that he had carried out a knife attack.
