Israel’s Chief of Staff Yoav Horowitz is heading a senior delegation to Washington to discuss the construction of Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, Israeli Channel 2 TV reported on Monday. The news was confirmed by Haaretz, which said that the delegation included Netanyahu’s foreign policy advisor Jonathan Schachter.
The Israeli ambassador in Washington, Ron Dermer, will also join the discussions, which will include a meeting with the US envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt. Israel’s plans for constructing a new settlement instead of Amona, the illegal settlement evacuated in Ramallah, will be on the agenda.

Last week, Greenblatt visit the region to get further information about the settlement issue. He met with Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials separately.
“We are in a dialogue process with the White House and our intention is to reach an agreed policy on settlement construction,” Netanyahu said on Thursday, when Greenblatt visited the Yesha Council, the main settlers’ organisation.
