GAZA CITY, GAZA - APRIL 06: Palestinian fishermen pull rough rays out of the sea after they return from fishing as two weeks long fishing ban ends in Gaza City, Gaza on April 06, 2017. ( Ali Jadallah - Anadolu Agency )

On their first day of sailing following a halt in fishing activity, Gazan fishermen have caught dozens of large stingrays off the coast of the Gaza Strip.

Today was their first day to sail after a decision by the Palestinian interior ministry to halt fishing activity and venturing out into the sea, following the recent assassination of Mazen Fuqaha, a commander in the Al-Qassam Brigades.

The fishermen expressed their joy with the abundant catch as bystanders gathered to witness the unusual event.
