The Association of Abductees’ Mothers yesterday accused Houthi rebels and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh of dismantling a protest for women in front of a jail in the capital Sana’a.

The association said in a statement: “Houthi and Saleh gunmen broke up a protest organised by the Association of Abductees’ Mothers and chased them in the streets after preventing them from riding public transport to return to their homes.”

The gunmen attacked the mothers by showing their weapons, removing signs from their hands and preventing bus and taxi drivers from transporting them.

There was no comment from the Houthis about the statement.
