Iran plans to establish a transport corridor linking the Arabian Gulf with the Black Sea, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

“The transport corridor will transport goods from India, Iran and some Gulf countries to Europe,” Zarif said during a joint press conference after a meeting with his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Janelidze.

The minister said the corridor will contribute to “the reconciliation of the people”.

Janelidze said the two officials discussed a number of issues, including bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, crossings, economy and agriculture.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Iran, Janelidze explained, expressing gratitude to Zarif for his support for Georgia’s territorial integrity.

Zarif will visit Kyrgyzstan after his trip to Georgia.
