Saudi looks for largest arms deal with Russia

Saudi Arabia is interested in signing the largest arms deal from Russia, a Russian Defence Ministry official revealed today.

“We have maintained very proactive cooperation over the past two and a half years. We have a long list of your likely requests for the most advanced weapon systems,” Russian Deputy Defence Minister Lieutenant-General Aleksander Fomin said at a meeting with the deputy chief of the General Staff of Saudi Arabia’s armed forces, Fayad Hamed Al-Ruwaili, on the sidelines of the 6th Moscow International Security Conference.

Fomin said Moscow is determined to maintain steady development of bilateral cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the military and military-technical fields adding that Russia “hopes for further open and trusting dialogue on the entire range of issues of mutual interest”.
