Israel detains Lebanese citizen who entered the country

Israeli authorities detained a Lebanese citizen who crossed the border into Israel today, according to Israel’s Ynet news website.

Ynet reported that the Lebanese national was spotted by Israelis at the central bus station in Kiryat Shmona, ten kilometres from the Lebanese-Israeli border. They then called the police.

The Lebanese national was reportedly transferred to Israeli security forces for questioning.

Lebanon has no political relations with Israel – nationals of either country not allowed to cross over the border.

A spokesperson for Israel’s security agency was not immediately available for comment.
