Manchester students' hunger strike: Day 1

Five students from the University of Manchester went on hunger strike in solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners.

The students, who say they “have a responsibility to support the Palestinian cause”, will began their hunger strike on Thursday.

The video shows the student activists describing their thoughts and feelings on day 1 of their solidarity hunger strike. Speaking to MEMO, spokesperson and one of the five hunger strikers, Huda Ammori, said that this was their way of standing in solidarity with the Palestinians and that they want to continue the tradition of student activism – which was at the heart of the anti-apartheid movement.
