A number of Egyptian MPs revealed that the Egyptian executive authorities decided to raise the price of water without parliament’s knowledge, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.

A spokesperson for the water company said that the latest price hike, which is to take effect in July, was approved.

Meanwhile, MP Khalid Abdulaziz Fahmi, the member of the Housing Committee in parliament, said that he would file a complaint to Parliament Speaker Ali Abdu Aal regarding the increase.

The MP said that the government would seize the opportunity of the parliament recess in order to announce more increases on other basic commodities. He added that this government is not working to find solutions for the problems citizens are facing.
