Some 964 civilians were killed in Syria in May, many at the hands of the international coalition, the Syrian regime and militant groups, the Syrian Human Rights Network reported yesterday
The network issued a periodic casualty report for the past month which documented the killing of 241 civilians by the regime forces including 29 children, 21 women and 13 civilians killed by torture.
The report said that “troops believed to be Russian have killed 13 civilians, including a child and five women”.

The Kurdish forces have also killed 54 civilians, including ten children, eight women and two people who had died of torture. The report documented the killing of 268 civilians, including 61 children, 47 women by Daesh and the killing of 43 civilians, including ten children and two women who were killed by armed opposition groups.
The report has also revealed that 273 civilians, including 89 children and 58 women, were killed by the coalition forces.
A total of 72 civilians, including 24 children had either drowned or been killed in explosions, the rights group was unable to verify the identity of the perpetrators.
The report said the ceasefire agreement which resulted in the establishment of “safe zones” and entered into force on 6 May witnessed relatively lower rates of killings compared to previous months.
